About this policy
This policy describes how Photo Inspect for Android and Windows handles inspection data and optional Google Drive synchronization. It describes version 1.2 of the app. For questions, contact INDENSO LTD. at yevgeni@indenso.com.
You can create and use local inspections without connecting Google Drive. Connecting Drive is optional.
Data the app handles
- Inspection content: project names, Item Description, ID# / KKS, Finding description, the original photo provided by the camera or file picker, and the separate stamped photo.
- Record and sync information: project and inspection identifiers, creation times, links between saved versions, photo checksums, Drive file identifiers, pending-upload information, sync times, and error status.
- Google authorization: access tokens used for Drive requests and a Drive account identifier used to prevent a device from accidentally syncing its data to a different account. On Windows, the app also stores a refresh token and the imported Desktop OAuth client configuration using operating-system-protected secure storage. Android authorization is handled through Google Play services.
The app can save a local draft of inspection text before opening the camera or file picker, to help recover an interrupted capture. It attempts to remove that draft after a successful inspection save.
Photo metadata: the app copies the original file without stripping embedded metadata. If the file contains EXIF information, such as capture time, camera details, or GPS coordinates, that information can remain in the saved original and its Drive copy. The app does not itself request device location or add a GPS field to an inspection.
Google Drive access and its purpose
After you sign in and enable sync, the app requests only the Google Drive drive.file permission: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file.
This permission covers files created by the app or specifically opened or shared with the app; it is not permission to read every file in your Drive. Photo Inspect currently uses it to create or find its own marked Photo Inspect App folder and read and create its sync files. It also reads your Drive account identifier. It does not request Gmail, Contacts, or general Drive access.
Enabling sync includes all saved projects and inspections on that device, including retained earlier versions, original photos, and stamped copies. There is no per-project or per-inspection upload selector in this version. App records from the same account are downloaded to other connected devices.
The app uses this Google data to provide synchronization, check file integrity, avoid duplicate records, and identify conflicting edits. It does not use it for advertising or AI processing, and it does not create public sharing links or change Drive sharing permissions.
The folder is an ordinary folder in your Drive. Your Google account and any sharing settings you apply to the files or folder also affect who can access them. If simultaneous first-time setup creates more than one app folder, Photo Inspect reads them, uses the oldest for new uploads, and displays a warning rather than deleting a folder.
Where data goes and how it is stored
Saved inspections are stored as photo and record files in the app's local application-support folder. The app sends sync data directly from your device to Google's Drive API over HTTPS. The current app has no INDENSO-hosted inspection server and no code that sends inspection content to indenso.com.
Inspection files are not encrypted separately by the app, either locally or before uploading to Drive. Secure storage for sign-in credentials is separate from storage for photos and records. Photo Inspect does not provide end-to-end encryption of inspection content.
Google handles sign-in and Drive storage under its own Privacy Policy. The app does not ask you to enter your Google password into Photo Inspect.
The current app does not include advertising, usage analytics, or an external crash-reporting service. It keeps local sync status and may write background error types and stack traces to device diagnostic logs. These diagnostics are not uploaded to an INDENSO service by the app.
Retention, edits, and offline operation
Saved records have no automatic expiry in this version. Editing details creates a new stamped copy from the original and retains earlier saved versions. Different edits to the same inspection are kept as separate conflicting versions; sync does not silently choose a winner.
Sync does not delete saved local or Drive records or photos. The app has no in-app inspection deletion control in this version. Old descriptions and stamps may therefore remain in retained versions after an edit.
Offline changes stay on the device and are retried when sync can run with a connection. Windows must be running to sync. Android also schedules background work, which can be delayed by battery restrictions, force-stopping, network availability, or a need to sign in again.
Stop sync, revoke access, or remove copies
- Stop syncing on a device: choose Disconnect (keep all files) in Google Drive sync settings. This disables future app sync on that device and removes its stored Windows refresh token, where applicable. It leaves inspection files, sync records, the account binding, and the imported Windows client configuration in place. It does not revoke the Google authorization grant.
- Revoke Google access: use your Google Account's third-party connections settings to remove Photo Inspect's access. Removing access does not delete data already stored on your devices or in Drive.
- Remove stored inspection copies: disconnect the app on every connected device before removing files, and revoke Google access if you do not want the app to reconnect. Remove the app's Drive folder or files yourself and manage Drive's trash separately. On Android, clearing the app's storage or uninstalling removes its app-local data. On Windows, close the app and remove its PhotoInspect data folder, whose path is shown by the app's information button. Keep any copies you need before removing data.
Removing only one copy is not a synchronized deletion: remaining copies can be uploaded or downloaded again if sync is enabled. Manage any separate backups, exported copies, or photos held by the camera application separately. Contact us if you need help identifying the app's local data location.
This website and contacting us
This page describes the Photo Inspect app. It does not receive inspection uploads. Like the existing INDENSO homepage, it loads the Archivo typeface from Google Fonts, which makes a browser request to Google. This page does not include analytics scripts or a contact form, and its code does not set cookies.
If you email yevgeni@indenso.com, the recipient receives the message and any attachments you choose to send through email. Sending support email is separate from app synchronization; avoid attaching inspection photos or other sensitive information unless needed for your request.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data handling changes, this page should be updated to describe those changes and show a new update date.
